I moved to San Francisco at age 26 looking to live the big city life, full of adventure, culture and socializing. I also moved up to SF in 1999 to be among others who were pioneers in this new internet industry. Over the next two decades, while living in San Francisco (and a 2-year stint in NYC), I would lead large digital marketing agency account teams and customer success departments at marketing technology software companies. In short, I would advise clients (LEGO, GM, Williams-Sonoma, etc.) on their digital marketing, paid advertising (on Google) and social media strategy (on Facebook & Instragram), in order to best drive new customers and sales.

In 2013, my wife and I, having just had our first child, decided to leave San Francisco, and after an extensive home search across Oakland, Berkeley and Albany, we bought a Craftsman house in Rockridge. We have turned that house into a home, where we raise our two young children. We love everything Oakland, Berkeley and the East Bay have to offer—enjoying warm weather, coaching youth sports, volunteering at our kids’ school, the highly-rated Chabot Elementary School, and engaging with our diverse community.

At age 29, I started investing in residential real estate. For the past 18 years, I've been an active real estate investor buying, selling, renting out, managing, and renovating properties. I recently sold two single-family rentals that I’ve owned for quite some time and I had to make the decision around whether to sell, how much to spend, if any, to update them in order to sell for the highest price, and whether would spending that money be worth it. It is one thing to ask clients to do this with their money, but having done it several times with my own money, having skin in the game, makes all the difference. I’m happy to say I matched and broke sale price records, and also made the right decisions on what to spend money on, so that I did net more money than if I had not spent the money to update the houses. Throughout the 18 years as a real estate investor, I’ve also done most of the construction, remodeling, estimating, project management, interior design, and landscape design work myself, so I know what it costs, how long it takes and how to get it done right. Having that hands-on experience is invaluable when managing expensive projects for clients and communicating with contractors. I’ve done everything from building fences to retaining walls to new floors to bathroom remodel to kitchen remodels to interior design to designing completely new additions, kitchens, and bathrooms. I also consider myself a talented, avid gardener, having learned from my dad who was a professional landscaper, and I bring that knowledge with me when preparing homes to sell. Probably most importantly, I was born with a designer’s eye, got a B.A. in Art and Design, and know what looks great and sells.

We saw a swift and steep correction in home prices of 15-25% from June, 2022 to Dec 2022, but so far in 2023 buyer demand has been strong and inventory has been low!
